Garden Design Services

The design process is a phased approach created to manage your project from conception to completion. It all starts by getting to know you, how you use your garden, your needs and your wishlist for your new outdoor space. This is all then translated into a seamless design. Throughout the process, we will keep in regular contact with you and update you on progress with meetings after each phase.

Once the designs are complete, we then work with our trusted landscapers to price your new garden design accurately against the masterplan. And to make the build hassle free, we can project manage the entire process from start to finish.

The design process can be bespoke to your needs so whether you are looking for a full turn key design service, a concept design, or help putting together a planting design, we can tailor the process to meet your requirements and budget.

The Design Process

  • A workspace featuring an open laptop displaying a Facebook page, an open notebook with a pen, a white mug, a glass jar with flowers, and some other items on a wooden surface near a window.

    Phase 1 - Consultation

The process begins with an on-site consultation to get to know you, your garden and your aspirations for your outdoor space. This meeting can be 1-2 hours depending on the size of your garden. Following this, a written brief is sent to you which outlines the fee structure and a detailed summary of the goals for your space.

  • Landscape design plan for a garden and backyard area, including existing trees, new planting beds, a raised patio, a lawn area, fencing, pathways, and an existing summer house. The plan indicates areas for privacy, screening, and planting, with notes about specific elements like magnolia trees, cedar cladding screening, and fencing.

    Phase 2 - Concept Design

A topographical survey will be carried out of your existing garden to determine accurate measurements, utility locations and levels. Using this information along with your design brief established, the concept design will be created. This drawing will be a proposed layout including photography as a mood board to reflect the proposal. At this stage, the design will focus more on the layout rather than the specific details.

  • Landscape architectural plan showing pathways, fencing, gates, planting areas, a pond, and paved surfaces, with detailed annotations about materials and dimensions.

    Phase 3 - Detailed Design

Once the concept is approved, we will get to work completing the detailed masterplan of your garden. At this stage materials, specific details, lighting and planting pallets including the general style of planting will be proposed.

  • Technical drawing of a building wall with construction instructions and measurements, showing brick and stone layers, foundation, and paving plans.

    Phase 4 - Technical Design

At this phase we will create a detailed design pack including material specifications, construction details, irrigation and lighting plans. These documents will be vital at both the tender and construction stages to ensure the project is priced and built accurately.

  • A landscape design plan for a garden, showing plant layouts with labels for various plant species, arrangements, and pathways.

    Phase 5 - Planting Design

The planting plan is then created which shows the locations of all the proposed plants, along with a plant schedule listing exact names, sizes and quantities. These are used for costing, ordering and setting out plants. Images will be included with the design so you get a feel for the look that is being proposed

  • A vibrant garden with lush greenery, purple flowers, and a clear blue sky, bordered by a concrete pathway.

    Phase 6 - Tender Documents & Installation

Upon the completion of the full design, the tender pack is put together and sent to contractors for pricing. We work with a number of trusted contractors and suppliers who can price your project for you, or you are welcome to use a contractor of your choice. We offer a full installation service where we can supply & install the planting, as well as project manage the entire build including arranging trades and sourcing materials.
